depends on fuel burned , length of chimney and flue pull , if your chimney is on an external wall and over 5 metres i would say yes line it whatever the fuel , because its solid fuel you will have to line it and insulate it and even more importantly make sure there is adequate ventilation . best thing would be to get a registered solid fuel fitter to check your chimney as to type and condition . most modern chimneys have clay liners and they will be ok unlined as long as theres enough pull and are intact .

You do not mention whether proposed Rayburn is gas/oil/solid fuel/multi-fuel. However, a flue liner is essential for gas and oil, although many wood/solid fuel appliances are installed into unlined chimneys, ALL appliances are better with lined flues. Building regulations decide on appliance safety, regardless of how they worked `before`.

The short answer is yes...but because the appliance might produce carbon monoxide , you should consult a registered HEATAS installer to connect the stove & also the flue..this is mandatory because it falls within the building regulations...
Edit..He will also ensure that the ventilation is in order

if the rayburn is a wood burning device, no. If it is a nat gas or propane, yes. The exhaust in nat gas corrodes things differently and if you don't line the flue it will deteriorate quickly. once of prevention...

AS IT RUNS ON SOLID FUEL YOU WILL NOT NEED A LINER
