Remove everything you possibly can, clean the floor, windows, sills, etc., and start bringing stuff back in making sure you put everything away where it belongs. Go buy clear storage boxes or baskets or something, so you have a place to put things. It will be a great feeling. Don't delay!

Start with 3 boxes, keep, toss and donate, working your way from the floor up, picking-up clothes, folding clean clothes and putting them away, magazines you haven't looked at in a month, toss them out, buy small boxes with lids for keepsakes/crafts etc. and line them up on a bookshelf, lots of music and a friend can help you along the way!

Get ya some large heavy duty garbage bags and start stuffing them with all the things that are in the room. then when you have a mintue start going through one bag at a time, except the garbage one and sort thru everything. then you will have a room that is free of everything to put stuff badk in or put up..

pick up your clothes off the floor and if they are clean, hang them in the closet or fold and place in dresser drawers. straighten out the bedclothes , plump the pillows pick up the other stuff on the floor and put it where it belongs. it will probably take an hour and a half to clean the worst of rooms. then if you put everything in its place the cleaning of the roor will maybe take 15 minutes

1] get black plastic bags, white plastic bags, and clear plastic bags.
2] start at door, with black plastic bag. Move around room in a clockwise direction, putting in trash as you go. Continue until you have picked up all trash/garbage.
3] start at door, with white plastic bag. Move around room, picking up dirty clothes and putting in bag. Pile all clean clothes on a chair. When you have finished all the dirty clothes, fold or hang up all the clean clothes.
3] start at door, with clear plastic bag. Pick up everything on floor that is not trash, clothes, or schoolwork. Schoolwork/textbooks go on the desk.
4] put black bag in garbage can, white bag in laundry, and lock clear bag in garage.
5] dust all surfaces
6] organize all surfaces
7] vacuum corners, closets, inside furniture, and floor
8] change sheets, remake bed.
Is this your room? Go thru clear bag at a later time, and see what can be given or donated, and what you need to keep.
If it is your kid's room, tell them next time, they only get back 7 sets of clothes, and schoolwork. Agree on a day of the week,
when room should be cleaned.

Garbage bags, gloves in case you touch something you didnt (or dont) want to touch and a radio/cd player/mp3 player (just LOTS of music)
