We just bought a house and have to paint the entire house. The painters are pushing flat. I have had flat paint and don't like it because I have 3 boys and it gets so dirty. What is the difference in satin/semi gloss & others? Thanks

Am building a new house and have to decide between putting a 3 car garage on the front of the house (visible from the street) where I will pull directly into the space or on the side of the house (not visible from the street) where I will turn into the space. I have a large lot, so turning radius isn't a problem.

Does garage location affect home resale? I'm looking for quantifiable evidence - i.e. articles, research, etc.

I have a hampton bay ceiling fan with a bulb base stuck in it. I took the glass bulb off and attempted to unscrew it with a pliers but the metal is so soft that is just bends in and does not give me a grip to unscrew this base of the bulb. So now the metal is all bent in the fixture. How do I get this out of the fan fixture? Do I drill into it? and then how turn the bulb base to unscrew it? My concern about drilling in is that I might damage the fixture of the fan beyond the bulb base. Any suggestions?

Everything was fine this morning. I flushed once and the toilet worked properly. Then I heard this faint "Psssssss" sound and I took off the toilet tank lid. Hmmmm. No water in the tank!
Not being familiar with the mechanism I had a good look and it seems the water is drizzling out of the black barrel looking thingy. Tried to flush again. Yep. No water in the tank so no flush. Does anyone know if I should try to fix this myself or call a plumber. Any suggestions wouuld be a help. Thanks in advance.

I live in a 5th wheel travel trailer, in Ohio. We just got 5 inches of snow & the temp outside is now 12 degrees.
When I turn on the shower the cold water comes out, but no hot water. I tried turning each on one at a time, but no hot water comes out. I tried the bathroom sink & the kitchen sink and got hot water out of them.
Any suggestions on what I should check or do?

I live in Chicago and I'm traveling for the next three months. I was wondering what I should set the heat at so that I'm not paying a ridiculous heating bill every month but I don't want to cause any damage to the eletrical stuff in the house or the plumbing.

I am looking for a mail order catalogue that is like Lillian Vernon, but I can't remember what it is called. There were several gifts in it that I wanted to get for Christmas, but I can't remember what the catalogue was called!

So does anyone know of any other catalogues like Lillian Vernon? The kind that carry a little bit of everything?

I want to put a 10x4 rug in my hallway but I remember from previous experiences they usually curl up on the ends. What's a good solution to prevent that?

My fiancee and I tend to shed out hair quite a lot and because of this the floor gets quite "hairy" sometimes.

Which is the best way to remove the hair from lino?

I've tried hoovering it but all it seems to do is move the hair around the floor.

I really want to wash the floor but it's hair when there's a lot of hair on it.

Thank you. :)

xx

I am planning to move into an old house recently that has no central heat and air and no propane heaters in it. From what I have read online kerosene heater would seem like the better choice for me despite the cons of them. The 2 rooms are about about 180 sq. ft. The other two are like 100 sq. ft. The electric heaters I have bought have not been putting out enough heat and the oil filled radiator I had bought seemed like it did not get hot fast ehough. help please.
