I'm trying to buy a new dishwasher, but the salesman says I can only buy one that has side mounts because of the corian countertop (they won't drill into the counter). Is this true? If so, what kind of dishwasher allows for side mounting?

Is it best to put metal roofing on over old asbestos shingles(providing it's less than three layers) or to tear off all the old shingles first? And does it hurt anything to tear off the shingles on one side and leave them on the other side and put the metal roof on?

We just bought a sofa and there is an option of $150 fabric protection called "duraguard" or something similar, though it is NOT scothguard. It also comes with a 5 year scratch, tear, and stain warranty. If I can get scotchguard for $8 a can, is there really an added benfit to the product they want me to buy or are they trying to fatten their commission with an overpriced add-on?

Does anyone know a readily available cold water laundry detergent without perfumes/dyes? I think Seventh Generation is coming out with one this fall, according to its website.

I have wanted to be a landscape designer for a long time. I had to go to the most affordable school in my state though. This school does not offer Landscape design or anything like that. I asked the school if I would be able to become a landscape designer with major: Agri Business / minor: Horticulture. I do have a work study job with the schools master gardener who also designs the landscapes on campus. I am getting a lot of experience working with her that I can add to what I already know about landscaping. I have also been drawing landscape designs for fun since I was in high school and gardening since I was real little. I have a lot of experience with plants and I know a lot about plants. This is the only school that I can got to so I hope this major and minor will help me. Thanks to all who take the time to read this and answer. I also want to own my own nursery.

I am going to paint a room in my home to be use for reloading and building arrows. I have no idea what colors to use for my little hobby room. I plan to hang a couple of mounts of deer and antelope. I'd also like to hang a flat screen tv and have a nice chair to sit in. The room is a 10x12 spare bedroom...

Can anyone recommend a color scheme or point me to some nice colors on a web site? I could appreciate the help since I am not color coordinated.

thanks!

I am making a wooden loft bed with 4x4's posts on each corner. I've used 2 x 4 for horizonal bracing and it still has a wobble. It has a solid 3/4 plywood on 2 x4's as platform with bracing under it every 2 feet. Should my bracing be in a X or is horizonal ok? (There is at least 3 - 2 x 4's horizonal on each side, not including actual platform 2x4. The platform has 5 inch hex screws in it and the bracing I used 6" hex bolts. Any help would be great! Thank you in advance.

I'm moving into a two bedroom, so I can finally have the office/2nd bedroom that I've wanted. Well, as it turns out, the 2nd bedroom is rather small, and I have yet to find a desk that I like that also works with the room. I also have the need to put up several shelves to hold a large collection of books.

So, my idea is to basically make a wall of shelves, but the bottom shelf being the widest and longest, and serving as my desk. In my mind, it works great (lol) but, I'm not sure about the practicality.

I'm not sure if the wall I'll be using has studs or not, so I'm just looking at drywall mounted screws right now. I'm familiar with the process of mounting screws into drywall, but how much weight can I really put onto these shelves? Enough to stand up to regular use as a desk? At most, the desk shelf would be holding two laptops, a light printer, and papers. Possibly a piano (keyboard), but not on a regular basis.

Any help or advice would be awesome! No 'smooth door' ideas tho plz..
