No, because I will not let him near MY tools. As I am the one doing HIS DIY project, it ALWAYS goes as planned because I have planned it.

It's a poor man who blames his tools when jobs go wrong. As an ex tradesman I can truthfully say I have never blamed my tools, ( I have often cussed for not having the right tool for the job in hand ,but that's my fault) When tackling any DIY project do not start anything you are not capable of seeing through. There is no shame in admitting that a project is outside your limitations as this way leads to frustration and in some cases can be very dangerous.

Never mind my man (don't have one) I always blame the tools when the DIY isn't going to plan! Its all part of the scheme of things to complete a DIY project!

Yes. It's easy to blame the tools or materials.
It's even easier to blame the man when you can't do the job yourself because you're too busy shopping or watching telly.

What a great Q...thank you. On an obvious level "TOOLS" are as much Testosterone for us as Estrogen is for your gender; and What better place to place blame than on the $#%&*@ Cordless Drill. Certainly better than defaming YOU when WE screw up.

When one of my sons; now 30; was about 6; he stated loudly; "My DAD can do/fix anything". I suspect he knows now, that isn't strictly the case.

I also; HERE had someone note me; "Is there anything you don't know?" I responded truthfully; "Too much"

So many PARTS of us and the "puzzle" don't always fit; and admitting defeat; confusion; ineptness; isn't a large part of our nature. A great OTHER example might be, asking for directions, if lost on the road. Being "ignorant" isn't the sin....More the issue is THINKING we can't; or might not be able TO DO, and not confessing that fact. On our most base level we WANT tab "A" to fit into slot "B"...even if we have to MAKE IT fit...sigh, LOL.

Statistically speaking...on ALL levels of DOING; when something doesn't WORK...it's usually US. "Operator Error" is a common phrase.

In defense of MY Gender; we do try Girls, and though WE may only be an arms length from "The Cave"; much of what we "mess up"; we did in some level of caring about what you wanted.

Certainly there are the "TV" types that might seem like they are listening as you relate your day, and the light bulb in the bathroom that hasn't worked for a month. AND some of those types might say, as you get up and walk to the kitchen to fix a meal,,,,"OH BY THE WAY,,,while yer up could you get me a can of SHUT UP?" But I HOPE that isn't the majority.

I'll STAR this, and wish I could award you 10. Sometimes we need to be nudged.

I had a choice. Blame the tools or my wife for nagging me to get the job done. I got rid of the wife, and now I am happy!

Hey, Steven. Ho Hum. lol

Not having the right tools for the job can turn a ten minute task into a weekend project. Your husband is right.
