It is a very small automotive bulb that is also used for outside lights. The glass is so shattered that I can't grasp it with pliers. Any suggestions? Thanks!

First make sure power is off. First spray with a lubricant (wd40 etc.) I am thinking it is one of the bulbs that are all glass and just push in if this is the case try getting a dental pick or something like it and hook behind the bulb and pull.
If it is one that you push and twist put your pliers in the center and spread them then push and twist.
Good luck

I find the best way to remove a broken light bulb like that is to grab a potato, cut it in half and use that, works everytime.
