I soaked and washed my sandals in vinegar and now I cannot seem to get rid of the vinegar smell either. I have washed them about 3 times with detergent and nothing seems to work.

White flowers that open in the evening, with a purple streak in them. 3' tall and 3' wide, dark purple stems, large green leaves that look like holly leaves and evil throny seed pods. We thought it was a moonflower but can not seem to find the variety. Zone 5. Maybe, it is a weed but it is pretty. I have pics if you care to view them.

I live in Northern Indiana and have a 6 foot brugmansia. Can it survive outside if I insulate the ground around the base of this huge plant. It is the size of a small tree. It's hard to dig it up and take inside every fall.

I recently moved into a new apartment and have found cockroaches in the kitchen. While researching how to get rid of them, I have come to the conclusion that boric acid is very effective. My question is I have pets, and am concerned for their safety and health. Am I endangerin my pets by trying to get rid of these disgusting insects. And if anyone knows what is the best way to use the boric acid, it would really help me out...

I bought a plant from Home Depot a few weeks ago, and it was labeled as an aloe plant, but it obviously is not. It is about a foot tall, and curves about 80 degrees, but straightens upward everyday I water it. The leaves are green and sprout outward a few inches and hang like a palm tree. They grow all the way up the tree and are sort of waxy in texture... does anyone have any idea what kind of tree I might have? Free hive for whoever has the best answer:)

We bought the foam pads and corners for babyproofing a fireplace hearth. It came with some adhesive, but the 8-month-old pulled that off in 2 days. I went and bought a roll of super-duty double-sided tape at a hardware store and that lasted a week. I used Loctite PowerGrab, but that didn't adhere because the brick is painted and Powergrab has to have at least 1 porous surface. I try to keep him away from it, but it still needs the pads in case his 2 yr old sister pushes him into it. I'm looking at using a product called Sumo Glue. http://www.sumoglue.com Anyone have experience with this product? Any other suggestions? I am about ready to just tear the hearth down and put tile on the floor. Thanks for your help.

Okay, I've recently found ants crawling on my living room carpet. The are those little brown ants... some people call them sugar ants, sweet ants, house ants, pavement ants, etc. Whatever they are, how can I get rid of them without using toxins or poisons so it'll be safe for my family and our pet cat???? I've heard to use baby powder... but does it really work??? All suggestions are greatly appreciated...

I keep seeing in stores the type of drapes that just are on the rods that slide back and forth (like a shower curtain). I have an extremely large window treatment in my living/dining room and wondering if I should replace it with the rod system.

It seems to be a cheaper and easier do-it-yourself solution (I originally had my existing curtains custom-made years ago -- $$$$!), but I don't know if it is appropriate. I don't want to look cheap or take away from the rest of the room. The window is definitely one of the focal points of the house and want to match its "grandness" with the right treatment.

I live in Central Oregon...very beautiful but we get these incredible dust "tornados". I have an aspen that is about 20 feet tall off of my front deck and it blew over and broke at the base. I noticed about 50 I guess you can call them "babies?" coming out of the ground now. I f I let them all push for the sky will I have a little forest there? They probably cover about 100sq ft. in all..anybody have experience with aspens? I don't want to mow them because I would like a bunch of aspens there. thanks

So i've had my jade about a year, and it's done really well... but, when I moved I accidentally left it on my balcony for three days when it was about 95 out and sunny. Needless to say it's now losing almost all of it's leaves (after they turn purple). The plant itself still looks alive though, it's nice and green. Is there anything I can do to save it?

My oil was a touch low and I accidentally put two cycle engine oil in my lawnmower. I didn't put that much in, maybe an ounce and I caught the mistake before starting the mower. Will changing the oil remedy the problem, or does it not really make a difference?

I've heard opposing suggestions here. Some say it's better to keep the AC running at a constant setting, and this will lead to lower energy bills. Others say to turn it up a few degrees when you leave, and lower the temperature when you're home (however, they argue that the AC works harder to bring the temperature back down). I run my AC at 72 degrees, and when I'm not home I put it on 75. Should I just leave it at 72?
