I want to plant some ground cover roses....but it seems I can't find any around. Went to Navalet's in Fremont and of course Lowe's and Home Depot, but none really to be found? Should they not be planted at this time?

I have a small patch of dirt in front of my home and whenever my husband and I plant anything there it dies. We are starting to think we have black thumbs. We buy the plants that say they are good for full sun but it gets very hot here in the summer. Way over 100 degrees. We have changed the dirt and mulch we use and have tried almost everything. Could anyone let me know of some plant species that would work and look attractive? Or if there might be a problem we are overlooking.
Thanks!

We have some sort of leak in our toilet bowl (I think), my husband said that it is not the seal or we would see water on the floor. I can smell wet wood and urine and no matter how much I clean it still has the smell to a small extent. My hubby thinks I am crazy, he can't smell it I guess, but it smells like rotting wood and slight smell of urine. Is it possible for the bowl to leak out under the seal and be leaking into our wood floor but not show on the surface?

are plastered with paint over them. I have been trying to cover the cracks and holes with joint compound but it is a neverending process and it still looks horrible. After priming the surface, I was thinking about mixing some joint compound with some paint of different colors and putting on my own kind of texture with a roller. Do you think this will work? If so, what kind of roller should I use? I already have some Well-Cote rollers of some different styles. Would they work? Any and all advice would be helpful. Thank you and have a great weekend!

The water heater is 10+ yrs. old, had a new thermal cupple installed about 4 years ago. About 2 weeks ago, began getting air in the hot water line only. No big deal, but now I have no hot water at all. I have a well and this is not happening in the main house, only in the cabin, which runs off the same well, but different water heater. Any ideas on what it could be? Can I fix it myself or do I need a plumber?

I rent a 4 bdrm (all girls) and we have a low-flow toilet. I've lived here almost a year, and in the past few months, the toilet (which we scrub thoroughly multiple times a week) has begun to have this really strong urine smell. I have tried to clear the drain with baking soda, vinegar and boiling water, and I've made a paste of Vim w/bleach and baking soda, applied it all over the seat, under the rim, bowl, etc., left overnight and scrubbed off, scrubbed under the rim with a toothbrush, etc.--and it's STILL THERE!!

I have no idea how to get rid of it...and it really is so strong that my boyfriend (who shares a filthy bathroom with 3 guys) has complained. Does anyone have any tried and true solutions that WORK? (preferably low-cost)

Please, helpful and nice answers only...toilet jokes are too easy to make here :-)

Thanks

The Battery is only 2 years old. I could not use it last years because of medical reasons. Today I tried to start the mower. The battery was dead. I could start the mower by jumpstarting it from my van. Do you think it will take a charge from a batterycharger, or do I need to buy a new battery?

I have a well system that includes a pumb and a pressure tank. When ever any water is running in the house the pressure switch cycles on and off every second. If you look at the pressure guage it bounces between 50 and 30 psi with every cycle. I am wondering if the problem would be in my pressure tank, my pressure switch, the discharge control capacitor, or the well pump itself?

I've decided to take up gardening in our new home and would like to spruce up the curb appeal. What kinds of plants should I incorporate into my New England garden that would withstand the climate? I would also like input on a pretty flowering bush that would be relatively low-maintenance. (I'm fine with trimming, but prefer a bush that doesn't need constant trimming!) Also I would appreciate input on a bush/tree that might work well for privacy? Our yard is not very private, and I would prefer plants instead of a fence for privacy.

Right now, I have one lilac bush and a few daffodils, however I'm trying to get rid of the daffodils (I have infant triplets and two dogs who are in the yard often, and I'm afraid they will injest them - the triplets may come in contact with them as they get older). Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
