This is an old home remedy for your septic tank, not clogged pipes. If you use your septic tank properly you shouldn't have any problems.

some people put yeast in a septic tank, but I don't think it will do anygood on toilet or pipes

Yeast eats away the tissue paper and waste so the septic system will not require pumping very often because it is very expensive
