As you can see in the included diagram*, the water level in the bowl is dictated by the height of the trap. Nothing you can do to remedy that except buy a toilet that meets your needs or manually force excess water past the trap with a plunger until you get the desired level. (if this is a case of trying to avoid 'splashback', laying out some toilet paper, flat not crumpled, across the surface of the bowl water should minimize the effect.)

If, in fact, you are talking about reducing the amount of water needed per flush, adjusting the float or placing a brick or rock in your tank will accomplish this but, be aware that your toilet design may not allow for efficient flushing of waste in this manner. In other words, if you flush the toilet and there was insufficient water force to push the waste past the trap, and you have to flush again, you're wasting water, not saving it.

do not seem to be getting an answer ! The problem is that I bought a new toilet and as I sit on the seat, my testicles are swimming. Tries a padded seat that helped some bough I am still getting pretty damp. The reference to a brick in the tank and ajusting the tank water level do not apply. Never had this problem before this new quick flush toilet by Kohler.

I have started to hit the water in my bowl when I d sit, so I ve been searching on how to lower the level. I ve mostly found complaints about it not filling enough. The gasket has a leak, so the water is just filling the tank, not the bowl. I unscrewed the bolts on the gasket, just a little. The gasket as I m calling it is at the top of the tube that fills the tank. I m guessing that less water will get to the bowl. I ll keep you informed, after my next flush.

Water in the bowl is not controlable if you wish to get a proper flush. The water level is determined by the toilet trap. It only holds enough water to fill the trap. Any excess runs out and into the drain pipe. If you put less water in the bowl, solids will start sticking.

BearDown is the best answer I've seen but let me put a little spin on it. I adjusted the flow of water going into the overflow pipe by putting a "T" connector on the end of the hose feeding water into the tank. (Plastic t connector available as vacuum hose connector at your auto parts store = about $3). One output of the "T" I put back into the overflow pipe. The other I attached to the outside of the overflow pipe thus filling the tank directly. See photo.

You can then adjust the bowl level by adjusting the tank level.

Putting a brick in the tank will lessen the water used to fill the tank. But if you're talking about the water level in the bowl itself, it sounds like something is stuck in the pipe to me. You might try a plunger.

The answers you got tell how to reduce the amount of water in a flush, but the height of the level in the bowl will not change as the refill system will fill it back up, Can't really change the bowl height without getting a new bowl.
