door frame is installed on outside which leaves 2 inches inside, when door is opened it hits the trim and does not open all the way. Any suggestions?

I would reinstall the door and frame to stop any further future problems because your going to have them. This is why you should either have someone that knows what they're doing or, find out the proper way to install a door. It's not simple but, it's not that hard either. Good luck.

Obviously whoever installed this door hasn't ever done this before. Whenever you install a pre-hung door in an existing doorway, especially one that's thicker than normal, the door is always set flush with the inside wall, not the outside wall. If the casing had brick mold on it, then the brick mold has to come off, the door casing has to be shimmed out to meet the edge of the outside wall and the brick mold reinstalled, or some similar frame attached. You're going at it backwards otherwise.

You are going to have to re-install that door flush with the inside wall or molding. It will be way easier than rehanging the door with different hinges- that's the whole point of a pre-hung door.
