We live in Washington state and we're looking to develop our four lots. We had a biologist check out the wetland status. As it stands, If we go with the 50 foot boundary around it, it's doable. With the 30 feet they want to add, it would take up all the buildable area. Should we just go ahead and get the bldg. permits before the new ordinance takes effect? Anything else?

On an old gas stove, about 35 years old, it has pilot lights.

Made by G.E.

If that pilot light goes out, will the gas automatically shut off.

I don't know if all old gas stoves will do that, or were there ever any that weren't made that way and the gas will just keep running.

The thing smells like rotten garbage or something...I don't know what it can be but it's gross. Is there anything I can do besides change the filter, because I don't know where I can get replacement filters from, they don't sell them at Wal-Mart and I've only had it a few months anyway.

I assumed the reason my toilet kept losing water because the flapper/flush valve in the tank was not completely sealing the hole (maybe because of the chain or a worn down flap). I was wrong. How it works is when i flush the toilet you hear the Filler valve fill the tank with water and when its done so it stop running. But when you look into the bowl you see little amounts of trickling water pouring from the rim into the bowl slowly. When the tank empties enough into bowl the filler valve makes the refill sound to refill tank and this happens over and over again every 45 mins.

*** Interestingly the water will stop running (and consequently prevent it from losing water ENTITRELY) if i pull up the little tube that overhangs into the Overflow tube. When i pull this little tube out of the Overflow tube i hear a gurggling sound within the little tube... and moments later the bowl stops receiving water via the rim. Problem solved. But why?!?

I am Re-Painting My Room And I was wanting to go with neutral colors...I am a teen And so I dont want to Be boring, but I want it to be like a cool place to hang out with my friends and just chill. And...I dont like green, because thats the color of my room right now (ew) Oh and By The way, I have cream colored carpet and White Furniture. And Right now, I have trim in the middile of my wall to seperate the white from green, the top:white & Bottem:Green, anyway, And I want to take it off, but my mom said either I take it off and have to keep the green, which would look really bad cause there wood be no seperating line and plus I hate the green, or leave it up and get to paint...I dont want to do either, but are there any tips that would make the "fancy" trim look less"fancy"? because my moms always like "I like the "classyness" of It..." And Im like *Im a TEEN! I dont like Classy stuff that much...well not in my room anyways...Sorry i wrote so much...but anyways Thanks sooooooo much!!!!

My neighbor irrigates his land to the point of flooding for several months out of the year. Right now, I have a crude ditch that leads the water from his yard into a pond in my backyard. The amount of water flowing through is comparable to a creek or stream. Its quite a bit of water, and its very dirty with a lot of sediment and occasionally some floating debris.

I want to overhaul the ditch this year. Ive heard opposing theories though on rock-lining. Some say that filling the ditch with rocks will help prevent erosion. Others say the rocks just allow sediment to collect, creating a dam. Should I just have a free-flowing open-air ditch? Should I line it with a rock-bed? Or fill it entirely with rocks?

Whats the best way to create a low-maintenance drainage ditch?

If I dont use rocks, will I have to redig it year after year?
Or if I do use rocks, will I have to clean it out year after year?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The pond is about 60ft x 60ft and it has alot of little bait fish in it (minnows, brim, goldfish). I want to know how to get rid of the alge/moss and hydrilla plants, but control the cattails. But I dont want to kill the fish or the willow trees around it. The alge/moss, and hydrilla go almost out to the middle and the cattails go all the way around. I tried to dig it out once before but they still growed back.

I have a deck that I stained with oil based semi-transparent stain, then in error, restained it two years later with latex, same brand, color etc. It is now peeling. Yesterday I stripped with a brand name stripper, scraped the deck, some bubbled and came off nicely. I then washed it with bleach, soap and hot water. Allowed it to dry. Will it be safe to apply oil based semi-transparent stain today, same color, same brand and expect it to not peel?

i might be getting a shed in my backyard soon for band practicing, and i wanted to know if anybody had some tips to make it a good practice room. if anybody has some tips for things like cheap soundproofing, or anything i might need to make a room where i could pretty much practice in without living, that'd be really great.
