There are several thing you can do.....
What do I do about algae or green water or string algae?
It is sometimes called split pea soup algae and robs your fish of oxygen and can kill.
Green water is caused by the presence of phytoplankton or algae. There are many species of algae, some are suspended, single-cell organisms while others are filamentous or form "strings".

You have algae and not enough algae eaters. Add more fish! You can place some plants close to the pond to help provide some shade, but don't block it off entierly. Algae loves sun. Unless you are going to take out the fish permenantly, stay away from algae killing chemicals, they usually kill fish too.

I"m having the same problem. I invested in a barley ball.
These begin to rot and form hydrogen peroxide. This helps control the algae growth. It won't get rid of what you already have but will control what is now growing.

you need a circulation pump to keep the water moving, also your fountain must be very shallow, because those two thing put together (shallow water and no cir pump) are perfect for alge growth.
