I found the answer to this question and all the others about watering plants. At the gardening section of any hardware store you can buy a water meter for about $5.00. You stick the probe in the dirt and it tells you instantly how wet or dry the soil is. I probably use half the water for my garden than I did before I started using the meter. Had to buy two because my wife kept stealing mine to use in the house.

Every 2 days is the rule I go by.If you water everyday it may cause root rot or molds an fungus. If the weather has been cool it may be okay to let them go three days.Alot of people water everyday but I would'nt do that unless the weather has been extremly dry an hot.Its all common since really.
