1st off the guy's a jerk and I suggest that you find a new home away from him before the obsessive and controlling freak does you any more harm ............ go to the local hardware store and look for a slide bolt that mounts on the door and door jamb --- then use some care in placing that bolt on the door as you will need to catch the screws into the area of the door that is close to the edge ... the door is probably a hollow core and the smaller type door bolt-slide will work the best for you ..... AND there are times that ladies need some privacy and that should be respected (by any descent person) SO good luck with all the above ---- if he reads this I hope that he does not take it out on you.... ..... the other thing that you can do is just buy a new door knob like the one that you already have and remove and replace ---- then lock up ..... ...

Depends how bad he messed it up. you may need to buy a new lock. Remove the 2 screws on the knob, install the new one. The other option is to get rid of the man that seems to have an insecurity issue with you.

The knobs turn a midsection placing out that attracts the strike faraway from the door physique. Stick a screwdriver into thje midsection of the locking deal, and turn it part to part forcefully. as quickly as the door opens, get rid of the lockworks by skill of taking the screws out of the edge of the door and sliding the lockworks out.
