The pond is about 60ft x 60ft and it has alot of little bait fish in it (minnows, brim, goldfish). I want to know how to get rid of the alge/moss and hydrilla plants, but control the cattails. But I dont want to kill the fish or the willow trees around it. The alge/moss, and hydrilla go almost out to the middle and the cattails go all the way around. I tried to dig it out once before but they still growed back.

.........Management of Hydrilla..............

Contrary to the answer of leaping f no one in their right mind would buy hydrilla it is a nuisance plant from Africa. I will include a link for the management of it. One of the things to control it is grass carp, but, they are not legal in some states.
Your pond must be a dirt or sand bottom rather than a liner bottom.
they make several things for algae and koi do not eat that much algae.
If you could install a above ground pump and filter with a UV filter would be ideal. I imagine it's way too big for that. To help with algae they make several brands of blue shade for ponds. It helps to filter out the harmful UV rays.BELOW................

You can buy this at almost any feed store in gallon sizes.

Sun is the culprit for most algae.

...........Bale Barley Straw
Barley straw can be used to limit algae growth in small lakes, ponds, and water gardens.

A combination of these 2 items is probably the most practical for your size pond and economical for the algae control

Plants are important to the ecosystem of your pond. You don't want to get rid of them. However, if I were you; try selling them on ebay!
Find out how you could ship them to people. I know there is money in that. I would be your first customer. I would love cattails and some of your plants.

I purchased algae fix and live bacteria on the internet. The live bacteria worked the best. I purchased the items from Drs. Foster and Smith. You can find them on the net, then just check which products will work for you.
