This is our first homeowners insurance claim. I hope the adjustor is honest?

Anyway - Our water level indicator went out on our washing machine. This caused the washing machine to keep filling with water & eventually went all over our floor. This caused massive water damage to our wall to wall carpet. We filed a claim on Tuesday & are patiently waiting for the claims adjuster to come to our home. I need tips on how to get the most out of our claim & hopefully get the wall to wall carpet & padding replaced. I have no clue what these things cost - so if he offers me a cash-out, I dont know if it will be enough?

My husband and I know that there must be some good mom and pop shops that have good quality inexpensive furniture. We go online to Ebay as well as some outlets but they over charge or the items are already used. Any stores out there that want to advertise to me.. I will be your biggest customer. Looking in L.A.!

If you've used a brand, or know someone who has, what do you recommend? Mostly, am trying to keep dust mites out of linens, and infrequently used blankets, clothes, tablecloths and clothes. Have washed them in De-Mite, will this suffocate remaining mites? Don't suggest $800 dry steamer! Too $$!! Thanks

I have a garage 20 x 30 with a deck built on top of it (I know, stupid design). The garage roof is leaking and of course it can't be repaired without tearing the deck off first. What is a reasonable bid to do the work: tear off existing deck, repair flattop roof of garage, replace deck on top.

would best accent with the copper? there are also beams going across the ceiling. beams and walls are currently painted a very putrid pinkish-beige. baseboards, trim, and moldings are painted off-white. the room needs rejuvination, and now that ive cleaned the copper to its original glory, i want the walls to coordinate . some suggestions for colors ive received so far are: cinnamon, brick red, saffron, sage green, burnt sienna, mustard yellow. what do you think? has anyone decorated with copper ceilings?

I have a 3 or 4 month old microwave, it's a hotpoint. It will often shut off during cooking. It happens especially when I cook something that gives off a lot of steam. It stops cooking and the clock goes black, as if it isn't plugged in. A few minutes later it comes back to life. What's up? I don't think it's a wiring problem because I moved last 2 months ago and it has done this weird thing at both houses. Thanks in advance!

My dishwasher is leaking from underneath. i stopped using it for a week and the motor just hummed the next time i tried to use it. After a months of non use because of it not working I found that all I needed to do was turn the motor fan to un jam it. Now I just have the leak problem. I found where it is coming from. I know what part to get. need an inpeller kit. Where the fan stem goes into the pump is where it is leaking. Wanted to know if anyone knew of a temporary fix till I get the part in.

I'm going to hack it down, but I'm thinking in terms of getting it manageable for the long-term. I imagine tilling it, perhaps treating it for weeds somehow. Anything kind of systematic approach to such a task would be appreciated. That is, if there's something like "the three basics of gardening," I'd like to hear it. Thanks.
