We are in BC, Canada, and thinking about building. We have property but I'm thinking about big mortgage payments and chickening out. We have lived in a 12X60 trailer for too long though.

When a merchant runs your check through their machine does it check if you have funds available?......I get paid by direct deposit tonight and the funds will be in to clear the check by midnight but at the time I write the check the funds will not be in the account, does the merchant actually check to see if funds are available when they put your check through their system or do they just check to see if you have bounced checks before?

I live in an apartment building, and at least once a day I have a HORRIBLE odor coming from the plumbing fixtures. It doesn't matter which fixture I am using ... it strikes everywhere in the apartment. It's a very strong odor but it does fade after awhile. The maintenance men all think I'm nuts because by the time they get here (usually a few hours after I've called) the smell has gone. They assure me that it's not sewage, but have never done anything to fix the smell. What can it be? Maybe if I offer a suggestion then they'll actually check it out?

In most households women do all the house work: dusting, vaccuming, dishes, bathroom cleaning, laundry, cooking. Boys might be better at sports maybe but girls maybe better at cleaning, so why do boys think they're over all better becuase they're better at sports?

thanks to all who answered my last questions -- all great knowledge. i just have one follow up...

some said that if i did not force the prongs in the outlet, it is fine. but i did... sort of. by force i mean use of moderate strength and easing it into the outlet by wiggling the plug back and forth into the outlet. meaning not brute strength but not just plugging something in as i normally would. what exactly is 'forcing' it in? and is what i did okay and leave the outlet safe to use?

please just indulge my psychosis - hahahaaa - thanks!!

Leak in roof caused my mattress to get very wet. Should I replace it or just let it dry? I am concerned about mold growing in it.

I just bought my first home and Im a little strapped for cash, but I can't stand the awful 70's flooring in the kitchen and foyer. They have some great choices at Lowes, but I'm a novice DIY'er and I need to know if they are practical and easy to install.
