Anything that you can put over a single plant to protect it from frost and/or give it a more favourable, warmer/drier micro climate is called a cloche. You can make your own by cutting off the bottom of clear plastic bottles, or use the transparent fruit and vegetable punnets for smaller plant or seedlings.
Originally they were made of glass, as "cloches"=bells or with a metal frame.
