I have a silk dress that is a little too large. They are sold out of my size but I really really love it. Will it shrink if I wash and dry it?

Good answers, folks! It is real silk, for sure. Will washing and drying make it look tattered?

After washing allow it for drying ( not in the dryer machine) just spread it over a Handy cloth dryer. If you are going to iron it the size matters. If it's a real silk it will shrink,If a polyester silk it won't.I don't really know whether you bought a real silk dress or silk look like.Wearing a silk makes you looks like Rich Girl and beautifies you.

if air dried no,if you put it in the dryer if it is pure silk it will shrink. And never ever put chlorine bleach in the water when washing white silks,it turns it to a dingy yellow and it won't come out.

I have hand-washed and air-dried many many silk shirts and none of them has shrunk. It might if it were washed in hot water, or machine-washed. Hope someone else has a more detailed answer! Sorry!
