First thing is to clean throughly. But the best "air fresheners" are plants, and not necessarily the flowering kind. Just be careful of which plants to use if you have pets. Otherwise, Febreeze Air Effects are my personal favorite when it comes to a spray and candles are great for scent and atmosphere. Good luck.

I personally use febreeze air effects. The smell is not overwelming like most of the air fresheners out there. I don't gag after it is sprayed.

I'm a big fan of the "clean house" smell. I wash all the hard surfaces with bleach, wash all the towels and blankets with good detergent and lots of fabric softener, and spray Febreeze on the furniture. It lasts a lot longer then temporary sprays and candles.

But to be fair, those new Glade candles that melt in the little dish smell pretty amazing.

Good luck!

I also use the dryersheet in air vent.
I have a small potpourri crock pot, I buy candles and sent chips by Mary`s candles at Wal-Mart....They are scented greatly and last a while.....I keep the pot plugged in all the time while I`m home....
They sell scent chips at lots of stores if you can`t find Mary`s candles at wal-mart

I use the Glade oil plug ins too. The dual one. It's lasted me a loooong time and it always smells so good. I haven't found anything better yet.

I asked a friend of mine this question, and she told me to place a dryer sheet under the air vents.

I tried it, and my house smells like clean linen all the time now. I love the smell, and it's cheap and easy.
