Hi I was given a Bonsai tree as a gift about a year ago (I am not a keen gardener by any means!)

The tree seemed to be doing fine new growth healthy leaves etc. I have been watering it every other day by sub merging it )over the roots) in a bowl of water for about 5 mins at a time and it was kept on my kitchen window sill with plenty of light and warmth.

A few weeks ago the temerature really dropped and it froze outside, the next day I noticed some of the tree's leaves (on the side next to the window) had gone yellow and started to drop off. I moved the tree in to my bathroom it's warmer in there and I thought the humidity would be good for it but the leaves are still turning yellow and dropping so it now has a bald patch!

So three questions really
a) Is the change in temp is the cause of this
b) how do I stop it
and
c) will I be able to save it

It was a gift for my birthday so has sentimental vaule and I don't want it to die! please help good people!

I stupidly left some dirty dishes in my dishwasher for over a week before running the cycle. When I remembered the dirty dishes, I ran the dishwasher on the hottest setting thinking it would remove the food and little moldy things starting to grown in there. My dishes are mostly clean with a little mildew on them that I can remove by washing them in the sink. How do I now sanitize my whole dishwasher and the racks. If I can even sanitize the dishwasher and dishes together and not have to rewash all the dishes, that would be even better. I'm willing to wait another day or two for good answers in order to avoid having to go through all the dishes and rewash them, but the faster your answers come, the better off I am. Thanks a lot.

I've been using a glo white sachet in the wash but very disappointed. Any other products that won't damage the clothes and that are safe for low temp washing in a machine. it's all gone a bit grey or patchy on my clothes.

I am making a bookshelf and can only get my hands on certain types of finished plywood for the sides and back of the bookshelf.
I can get Oak, Birch and Maple. I was leaning toward maple.

The finish I need to match is dark and not completely transparent on cherry wood.

I need to re-do my roof but not now I cannot fix the ceiling where they pass through. Someone recommeded soaking sponges with ammonia and throwing them above the ceiling! This did not work for they returned the next day, but it did let me know that there was a bat in my roof as well
