When I moved into my council house, they informed me that the heating system only works when the hot water heating is on. Why is this? Does anyone else have this?
The heating will work when the water isn't on, just not according to the thermostat, it just heats and heats indefinitely.
So would it be cheaper to leave the hot water(tank heater) on all the time and have thermostat controlled heating, or leave hot water off and keep turning the heating on and off?

I am in WI right now and there is a squirrel outside my home that is always searching the ground (for food, I guess) and I am wondering if they store up for the winter when it snows.....

Anyway, I have alot of trail mix that I haven't eaten and I threw some in the yard for him... do you think he'll eat it... should I put more food out?

The trail mix is mostly nuts, a little apricots and raisins in there, too.

I have a room with a finished oak wide board floors, and exposed honey coloured brick on one wall. I have a light grey couch and a darker grey vanity. What colour would look best in the room? The lighting is quite good so I don't want to go too dark but rather emphasise the light.

I have bought a rat repeller which I plug into and it makes sound to repel rats (which human cannot hear it at all). There is a little red light on the machine and will be on indicating the sound is being made. BUT, what if the machine is only an object with a red light but actually is not making any sound at all? Any ways to test the machine is making sound?

I know you'll say "it depends on the type of windows we choose" and you'll say "it depends on how many windows", and a million other factors, but if someone could give a ballpark guess (I know, it's a big pallpark) on how much it will cost before I even mention it to my wife, that would REALLY HELP!!!

I wanted to buy some cermaic tiles from this place and the lady said that if get my contractor to buy it, that they could sell it cheaper. I asked how much cheaper and she said it depends on what kind/type of contracting license they have. Is this true? do some contracting license get more discounts than others? if so what type gets the BEST discounts?

The basement previously had been damp and may have had water problems. It's fixed and I also have a dehumidifier working during summer months. But the odor lingers. Any ideas?
