It depends what type of bamboo it is, but generally bamboo will just keep on growing, and fairly quickly. Cutting them back is fine.

You need to now the bamboo's exact (Latin) name.
I have dwarf bamboo that will never exceed a metre tall and others that are twice that height.
In Sri Lanka I saw bamboo about 30m tall.

bamboo can grow up to 18 feet or higher,
some varieties anyhow.
ya, cut them back when they're at the height you wish them to be

Most will keep growing. Cut it to keep it the size you want. They are bullet-proof plants so it's really hard to do something wrong. Make it suit you.

what kind is it,some do ten totake ove.if the slow growing kind,then i would leave it.if the larger kind then dig them out.you can always put them somewhere else
