Some door knobs use a "spanner wrench" to install them. Look on the shaft right where the knob meets with the door. You may see a little notch in the shaft. If you do not have a "door spanner wrench" you can use a small screw driver and a hammer to loosen the knob. Just place the tip of the screw driver in the little notch. Remembering "Right-tighty, lefty-loosey" try tapping the screw driver in a counter clockwise direction. this should loosen the knob, letting you remove it from the door.
I hope this helped you out a little. As the others mentioned, you may just have a face-plate covering the screws, so you may want to check that first, and try to pry it off.
Either way, I wish you luck in removing the knob.

Schlage had a design where a small spring was used to capture an escutcheon plate on the interior side of the door handle.
Press the spring in or up with a small flat blade screw driver to release the e-plate from the handle, then slide the e-plate back toward the handle, away from the door.
You should be able to find a pair of screws to unscrew the inside and outside halves of the handle and disassemble the rest of the handle.

There are different ways to attach the handles. Varies by style. Use links below to get you in the ballpark. I just installed a brass lever style Schlage lock-set and it had set screws to secure the handles behind the trim rings.
Don't use a hammer like described above! It will come apart, you just have to figure out how. It is not a rocket engine....it's a door knob. Be patient and good luck.

Look for a little slto on the inside of the door knob. You should be able to pry off the escutcheon plate with a screwdriver by sticking it in the slot. Once the plate is off you will see the screws.

There will be a cover on one of the sides of the door knob. This is covering the screws.

I think your clue is the small wire. It is probably a spring. See if you can push it in while pulling on the knob

Actually a door knob would be twist or turn not push or pull.

That tab should be pushed in with a thin slotted screwdriver. Since you couldn't figure that out, I would suggest that you hire a locksmith. It seems you lack the basic skills one needs to install or fix anything.
