We're out here in Southern California and we've been having a problem with sewer flies. They're little flies that fly around our shower drain. We've tried using Drano and keeping the drain really clean...nothing is working! Any ideas?

The garage door still works but the garage was transformed into a bedroom without sealing the cracks. Looking for a cheap alternative. Without using duct tape please.

The vertical shaft of the main drain in my house is cast iron and uses lead caulked drain joints. There is a hole in the pipe closest to the ground, aproximately 1 inch above the concrete floor. Should I change the system to the more ridged hubless pipe system or should I stick to my current system? If I change to the hubless system, how do you secure the cast iron pipe below ground level. You don't actually clamp the old pipe to the new pipe with a clamp when that clamp will be below the ground, do you?

I am a big animal lover, 2 dogs, 1 cat, they are like family. I am having a problem with fire ants in my yard, & if you don't have them in your area & you don't know this they bite and it HURTS! It especially hurts my kids. I've been wanting to put poison out to get rid of them but I haven't because I don't want to hurt my neighbor's dog. I have asked her to keep him out of my yard, told her what I need to do, but she just says 'he won't bother it'. I would hate for anything to happen to the little guy, but I have to think of my children. My question is, if I put the poison down & her dog gets in it and gets sick or dies am I liable for what happens to him? I mean, could I get in legal trouble? Oh yeah, of course I'd keep the kids out it.
Thanks for knowledgable answers.
I'm posting this in 2 categories because it's very important to me and I need as many answers as I can get.

Recently, I suspected odd behavior in my neighbors upstairs where I live, I've left traps and actually got them on tape coming in my home, and it looks like they've done a multitude of things while they were in my home, and I want to know what you would do about it, because my thoughts of what I should do could prove fatal.

I sooked a wash rag with cod liver oil, put in on my mom's leg covered it with plastic, and then put hot water bottle on it. Then my mom washed the wash rag, not her laundry room, towels, dryer and her lazy boy chair smell like dead fish.
