Hi,
This question always causes a stir and I find it amusing to read the answers. After reading all of the answers you still won't know for sure what it really is.

good on you Giddaymate!! Actually the site you link does give the answer: "a pumpkin is a fruit, just as are tomatoes, cucumbers, squashes, avocado, green, yellow, and red peppers and pea pods"

Anything with seeds inside it is a fruit. But note that there are fruits that do not have seeds inside them either because they are triploid [3sets of chromosomes instead of 2 -- banana]; or self incompatible clones [pineapple -- but this is a multiple fruit, made up on a number of fruits in a single unit] or are false fruits [strawberry -- the "seeds" on the *outside* are the real fruits, carried on a tasty receptacle]

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. Thus as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.

i guess technically its a fruit because it has seeds- which makes it a fruit. other people have said its a squash- im not sure about that.

tomatoes
cucumber

A pumpkin is a vegetable; it's actually a gourd, and related to squash.
