Everywhere I look, I only find the long curtains. I have small windows.

Our new bungalow seemed ideal for us, now we've moved in and the builders have sorted out some of the teething problems. The back garden has supposedly been rotavated and then turfed. It is very uneven and you can feel hard lumps below the turf. I have started to take turf off and dig over borders ready for planting , but am finding polystyrene packaging, large pieces such as kitchen appliances are packed in, and chunks of concrete and broken bricks. Some of the concrete is over a foot square and 3 to 4 inches deep. Most of the debris has about 4 inches of soil over it. The builders tell me that this debris is rising to the surface???? This sounds very odd to me.

Are they supposed to leave it like this?

I recently harvested some mistletoe from our tree out front. I was wondering if anyone can share some good info on preserving it so it retains its color through December?

People hate paying high prices to sell their homes, so what would you like to see, would you like to be a little more hands on with the process and save money?
make your own fliers, MLS only, handle your own contracts, buy your own yard sign, show your own home? what services do you need and what do you not?
what is a fair price do you think to sell a home (percent, or same fee for all?)

I have light carpets (builder special!) and a 2 yr. old and a 4 yr. old. I keep them clean (the carpets and the kids!), but hate to pay for the professional carpet cleaners all that often. I often use Woolite OXY Clean, but I just keep finding more spots. Seems a daily battle. Does anyone know a "home remedy" I can use to spot remove? I have tried Oxy Clean, and even tho my carpet it light it has bleached some places.

We're building a log home and are currently debating the stain/finish of the interior (exterior has been decided). We would like to use a product that's a stain and a finish/poly in one (to save money/labor for the builder). I like glossy/semi-glossy stuff. My husband likes matte. He tells me that noone in their right mind would stain the walls of a log home with gloss. Why not? He can't come up with the answer. Can you? Also, if you know of a good stain & finish product to use on log walls, please suggest. Finally, is "matte" and "satin" the same thing? You can look a the pictures of the walls/partial house at http://dclhome.blogspot.com/ . Thanks
