Hi,
I don't know about buying back used furniture, but you can sell your furniture on consignment. That means that you sign a contract with a consignment store such that they display your used furniture in their showroom until it sells. They handle the transaction with the final customer, in exchange for a percentage of the dollar amount that the piece is ultimately sold for. It's a pretty good alternative as long as you choose a consignment shop with lots of traffic.
There are lots of consignment shops in San Diego; run a search on the internet or go to the yellow pages to find one you like or one that's near to you. But the one I recommend is called Consignment Classics - they have two locations, one in Encinitas (201 El Camino Real, 760.634.3055) and one by Old Town (1895 Hancock Street, 619.491.0700). Sorry, they don't have a web page.
Anyway, out of all the consignment shops my husband and I have visited, they have the largest showrooms and the best selection, as well as a lot of foot traffic. We've been to both locations, but think the one by downtown is better. Good luck!
