WORST HOUSE IN THE BEST NEIGHBORHOOD. Absolutely. I'm actually in the other situation (our house is probably one of the nicest in the neighborhood, but the neighborhood SUCKS). I would rather take the worst house in the best neighborhood any day...

Worst house in the best neighborhood. You can fix up the house but one person cant fix a neighborhood.

Worst house in the best. That's where investors look. You NEVER want the most expensive house in your neighborhood. If your house is the worst, all you have to do is some home improvement and you will have SERIOUS home equity....

Hmmm...
Best house, terrible neighborhood means I'm the target of all the burglars, my kids still go to crappy schools, and I've got two bedrooms as opposed to one like everyone else.
Worst house, in best neighborhood means a six bedroom mansion next to Shaq and Tiger's 10 bedroom estates (in a gated community to keep the burglars away).
Easy choice.

Worst house in the best neighbourhood!
It's the best way to make money....ceiling prices are much higher so there is more scope for you to add value and make a profit when and if you sell-up.

Best house definitely! Because you spend more time in your house than in your neighbourhood.
