I get about 5 hours of direct morning sun in the dry shade spot I want to plant my fountain grass. Its near a huge mature oak tree that sucks the water out or a lot of my back yard, but still manages to let boxwoods grow about 7 feet from its truck. I plan on planting my fountain grass about 10 feet away from the same trunk. Also, will the grasses multiply every year? So should I not bunch them too closely when I plant?

I just bought a house and am going to be moving into it in a month. Problem is my lease isn't up till December. I can't afford to pay both my lease and my mortgage, and it's really hard to get out of a lease while still getting to keep the security deposit. So I need a good reason to break the lease, so my landlord won't have a problem with it and will still give me my security back. Can someone please give me a really good excuse, cause i can't seem to come up with one. Thank you all who respond to this!

I have 2 cats and 1 small dog and 2 children. So we get the pet stains, and the kids with their markers or glitter glue stuff. We made the mistake of getting a very light colored carpet and it shows everything!

You know, you hear about houses with southern exposure being the best (I think)--what do I have? I would guess "western" since my front yard faces the west but don't really understand the terminology.

Our composite decking was horribly stained from dirt and muddy paws. Cleaning still left blotches so we stained it. It looked great for a week, then started to get dirty again. This time when we cleaned it (with an approved oxy-type deck cleaner) the stain faded, too. Should we stain and seal? Darn you, composite decking! You are not as maintanence-free as promised.

Our soil has a kind of red clay in it that seems almost impossible to get out (Northern California). My kids (ages 3 and under) play outside and stain their clothes in the dirt. I've tried spray-n-wash, tide with bleach alternative, and oxy-clean.

I moved in to a 3 bed property of the councils after waiting 6 months in a emergency accomadation. I collected the keys straight off some one from maintenance department who had been fitting in central heating. No one else came to inspect the house and a old lady had lived there for over 20 years before me which you can tell. Everyroom badly needs decorating, a lot of the walls have holes and cracks in the skirting boards are damaged thes left over screws and nails still sticking out all over the place and any that have been removed have just left a very noticeable hole behind and when you touch it it just crumbles away creating a bigger hole. The interior doors upstairs are all odd with holes and dents in them. I stripped the living room, re-wallpapered it then had to paint it all basically usig up all spare cash I had to make it look liveable. A month later thes damp on my walls now theyve had to put damp proof in destroying all decoration I'd done and now back to square 1.

The olive tree is in a big terra cotta pot. It needs to stay in the pot. It looks dead, but if I break off a twig there's still sap running inside. Should I trim it back to almost a stump?
