Our soil has a kind of red clay in it that seems almost impossible to get out (Northern California). My kids (ages 3 and under) play outside and stain their clothes in the dirt. I've tried spray-n-wash, tide with bleach alternative, and oxy-clean.

Let the clothes soak in borax before you wash and add borax with your laundry soap. If stains are still ther don't dry soak again and repeat I live in Michigan and we have black dirt this what I do (my son plays in my yard that has little grass hope this helps.)

My boys were football players and always in stains... usually the best luck came when I used a combo attempt. Era I think was the best ... here is the kind of process I went through.
1. Get the cloth wet
2. Put on the soap and rub it in deep through the fabric
3. then oxy-clean and rub that in- sometimes with a brush.
4 put aside for about 30 min.
5. wash...
then when you get tired of all that.... have 2 sets of clothes... play clothes that have stains and good clothes that we don't play outside in.
:o)

Well, I was going to suggest that you soak it in Oxi-clean for a few hours and then use Spray 'n' Wash on the clothes, but you said that you already tried that so I don't know. Maybe go down to the thrift store and buy them some really cheap outfits to play outside in.

Try this, it works on most organic stains:
1.) Make a paste with meat tenderizer and a little water.\
2.) Using an old tooth brush, scrub the stain with the paste.
3.) Allow to set for a while, possibly over night.
4.) Launder as usual.
GOOD LUCK!!
