Years ago I had a Hoover, that used vacuum bags. My hubby found a rubber (or plastic) 4" X 1" bag slide.

After removing the disposable bag from the vacuum cleaner, one could open the vaccum bag at the top end to empty it and re-use the bag over and over by refolding the top 3 times and placing the slide clip over it, to re-seal the bag.

This meant that the disposable bags could and did last for ages (ever actually as I bought 5 bags) and only used 2 in the whole time I had the Hoover. It never came loose or damaged the paper.

However once the old vacuum died, I moved to a bagless model and chucked away the disposable bags (along with the clip). Does anyone know where in Adelaide one could buy another...or anything that would do a similar job, as I have just purchased a Kirby (Ultimate G AUS$780 from Cash Converters) and the bags are a bit pricey I've heard.

The stone popped out of the setting. I feel the diameter is about ten feet. I have been picking up the gravel by hand for hours.

your county does not have records of when you house was built??
They have a date of 1890 but we have town maps that our house was here in 1850's.
It's just for our own use, our house has some great historical items in it, the original winding staircase is still here.

A couple of my wall plugs quit working and I have no power in my basement now. Since that happened, my electric clocks are running fast. I have to reset them everyday and by night they are ahead again by as much as an hour. What the heck is going on? I think I might have a bad circuit now.

I was wondering how I can make a wooden jewelry box. I wont have access to any machines or anything like that, Im plannin on getting the materials just at my local home depot. A list of materials would also come in handy, if anyone can add suggestions. I want the box to be about the size of a regular shoe box, and nothing fancy, just a box with a lid that opens up, used for storage of keepsakes that include photos, letters, etc. I also plan on engraving something in the front, maybe with a knife, any suggestions to this would also be appreciated.

I was sitting on the toilet this morning, and all of a sudden It goes glump glump glump, and I look down to my dismay, and their was no water, it gurgled it up, but than it released it, and i flushed, and it worked. But than, standing near the sink, glump glump glump again, it sucked some more water up and released. Any thoughts what that is, is that a sump pump? Or just bad plumbing ?

I have a heat pump system (installed last year). Once in a while, unpredictably, the pipes freeze up and the cooling stops working.

Does anyone know why these pipes might freeze?

I work at an office supply store and I want to start assembling furniture for customers on the side--just small desks and bookcases--things you would find at a place like IKEA.

We have an acre.
My husband wants to put pine trees along one side- that's what his father did. It's nice and private, but I like maples, weeping willows and oak trees.
I would like something that will grow quickly enough... say in the next 5-7 years. What do you suggest?

I just dug up my lawn prior to laying a new lawn and garden. Below is a 12mx10m ants nest! How do I get rid of it permanently before laying new lawn and garden? If I put down ant killer, it'll kill these, but they'll presumably be back soon... Ideally, I'd like to avoid using chemicals, and anything that will damage the garden / other animals.
