A couple of my wall plugs quit working and I have no power in my basement now. Since that happened, my electric clocks are running fast. I have to reset them everyday and by night they are ahead again by as much as an hour. What the heck is going on? I think I might have a bad circuit now.

My, how time flies!

Sorry, I just had to do that.

The only way your clocks will run faster is if the frequency or voltage of the current coming into your house is higher than normal.

Call the power company immediately. Don't use any sensitive electronic equipment (stereo, computer) or large appliances (washer, dryer, AC). This condition could damage that stuff.

i would check the neutral wire and its conections at the main. also check it's bond to ground. it sounds like you have a floating neutral. very bad; it can cause your voltage to fluctuate from 0 to 220 depending on what is on and other things. get it checked out ASAP

have an electrician come and check out things...if the power loss was during a storm you might have lightning damage
