Rules of thumb on square footage are no help here. The b.t.u.'s
of cooling required are governed by the load created from all that glass, and the actual volume of area to be cooled. The glass condition is a big factor, insulated and tinted glass being more efficiant than single-pane and clear.

Only a fool would attempt an answer for you, so that means I am imminently qualified. Use at least 3 times the b.t.u.'s normally required for a similar square footage, or 18,000 to 24,000 b.t.u.'s.

Thank you for the glass update. 18.000 b.t.u.'s should be fine.

If you are talking about a window unit, any unit you buy from the department store will have a cart on the box to tell you what size unit you need to take care of the size room you have. If still you don't know, ask someone that works in that department. They will help you choose the right one.

where do you live, if it is currently 35 degrees how much cooler do you want it freezing or what, in a normal zone where daytime temps. may be up to 85 or 90 in there and nightime temps drop to around 50 to 60 then i would say go with about 10,000 btu.
