i recently purchased a canna lily ( king hummbert) from a car boot sale iwas very pleased with it because it was about 18 inches high and looked very healthy . i took it home and replanted it in multypurpose compost then i watered and fed it . the following day i noticed that the leaves had began to curl up and they were starting to go yellow, so i do not know where i have gone wrong because i have even made sure that the fore mentioned plants are exposed to full sunlight most o the day ,so if there is any body out there who can help me i would be gratefull

I live near the border in southern calif about 15 miles inland. im in a valley where it can get very hot in the summer, but is nice the rest of the year. No frost. Ive dug deep and ammended the soil with about 50 % grow mulch. I've filled the holes 3 times with water to check for drainage. The 3rd fill drained in under an hour. All my friends at work have at least one lemon tree and can't use what they have, so I know I don't want lemons. But i would like to try something different in it's place. Basically I want 3 med sized citrus and want help telling me what to buy? thank you.

As in, about 1 - 2 metres from the house? Our house is on a now busy road, it was built in 1860. Most people's front gardens are now 'car parking'. We have a narrow bed currently with a holly in it which looks pretty awful. Our neighbour (we are semi detached)
has a japanese cherry outside his front door, I would like to mirror this as it looks so much nicer but I am wary of causing any structural problems.

Given that councils used to plant trees on pavements very close to houses are there some 'municipal' types I could safely try? Or tree-like shrubs? I like blossom and 'country cottage' looks!

I have an adorable 100% rayon dress that I machine washed (cold/gentle), and it shrank. Due to some alterations, the care tag was removed--I'm assuming it said Dry Clean Only, but it's too late now. Is there any way to reverse the shrinkage caused to an item that was washed when it should have been dry cleaned? Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks.

I'm installing a Grohe showerbar and need to drill holes in the shower to install. I need to know if it's OK to drill off center as I believe the plumbing is at the center between the 2 valves up to the arm. and not have to worry about drilling into the plumbing.

Would it be easy and/or cheap to fix or should I just buy another?

I am having a yard sale tomorrow & just thinking about getting rid of it, would $15 or $20 be a fair price for a parts machine? ( it is only 3 years old & was bought new) ..thanks.

i bought a Corrego kitchen sink UPC number NSF 61/9. i hooked it up and everything was fine until i noticed the on/off/hot/cold/handle (as i call it, i dont know the real name) was leaking. it was hooked up correctly, but the on/off part was really loose, that was the part that started to leak. i put in everything right, i think, and it snapped in place, but still leaked.

My air conditioner & furnace were installed June 2005. It was working perfect last year, set on 68 all summer and did not see inside temp go up and it was very comfortable. this year, it was checked twice, they fixed something the 1st time (something got frozen and added freon), they still can't find anything, It is very uncomfortable inside the house. I have a split system and I noticed that if both 1 & 2 are both on the thermostat, the temp inside the house goes down really slow, like 2 degrees per hour, my PG&E bill got doubled this month. Any idea what else they can check that I think they are missing why inside temp going up so much? They keep saying we never had summer for 3 years. I stil wanna know why it's going up. Not sure if connected but I had air duct cleaned after installation.

We have a historic home, with wood floors and crown moulding. We have pretty much all pottery barn furniture (www.potterybarn.com). I have a big old black desk with shaker style legs. It isn't the kind with drawers that go to the floor - there are only 2 drawers right under the top. Anyways, I want to put it in the kitchen that has a seperate nook w/ window and place a loveseat behind it and some chairs. Can I do it without being cheesy?
