You need some Terro ant killer. It's found in hardware stores and in a lot of pest control aisles in grocery stores, some drug stores, etc.

It's a liquid the ants carry back to the main colony, and they die in their house, not yours.

Do you mind doing a bit of investigation? Ants need a constant supply of water, and if you retrace their tiny little footsteps it won't take long to find out their source. They will go back and forth to that point continuously. Usually it is a nest outside (and we'll deal with that in a minute). But you need to be absolutely sure that you don't have an internal water leak that is supplying the critters. If that is the case, you will have no luck until the water is gone. Some likely suspects:

dripping valve under the kitchen sink, vanities or toilets
invisible window leak sending water inside the wall
roof leak
a/c drainpan or condensate line leak
leaking door threshold or jamb
shower pan leak

To keep ants and all bugs away, use Ortho-Chlor (available at Home Depot) and spray the entire parameter of your home once a month, dilute according to directions, wearing respirator and gloves to avoid skin contact and inhalation. Never use inside the home!

To wipe out ants and all bugs inside the home, spray them and their favorite paths down with eco-H, a non-toxic plant-based cleaner www.ecoquestintl.com I have to use this inside because my wife has multiple chemical sensitivity.

Good luck and God bless you!

7 dust (comes in a box) You can get it anywhere. It worked the best for me. It is a powder. I sprinkled it between cupboards and floor boards. No more ants.
They are looking for water. I had an exterminator come in once. He told me why they were mainly in the kitchen and bathroom. He put little "water traps" everywhere. That worked a little, but the "7 dust" works best and you dont have to have little black ant traps everywhere with trails of dead ants. Nasty. Iwould use both though until you see them deminish. He also said that if you see one big HUGE ant, that is the queen, and to kill her.

Years ago I had problems with ants inside my house. A friend told me to get rid of my Yucca plant outside my door. I got rid of the Yucca and within two days the ants were gone!

I find that my ants come in this time of year, however, they don't last long....if it bugs you like it does me, i found that putting liquid soap in the outside crevices of the window works.

7 dust or boric acid also works.
