How to get rid of house ants?

Here is a tip I just received about a week ago. Sprinkle Aspartame, the artificial sweetener found in NutraSweet and Equal. Sprinkle the contents of the packages around wherever ants are, whether in the house or outside. I understand it works "miracles" on getting rid of all kinds of ants including Fire Ants. I have not tried it so good luck!

I don't think moth balls will work, they are for moths. I would first do a good cleaning of your countertops and any other areas where the ants are climbing. Then, go to home depot and ask about an ant bomb, and set the ant bomb off when you know there will be no one in the house for a specified period of time (it should say how long on the package).

Yikes! Get the box out that the moth balls came in. It has a warning that reads, "Inhalation of vapors IS fatal"
Besides being potentially lethal, they are not effective against ants.

Here are two options, toxic and non-toxic:

Mix up Ortho-Chlor (Home Depot) per dilution instructions, Apply with pump sprayer to the entire parameter of your home, including all door openings. Use respirator and gloves to avoid exposure to the fumes and skin contact. Do not use inside!

Get a quart of eco-H. www.ecoquestintl.com Dilute to 10% solution, spray on all ants, ant beds, ant pathways, etc. Totally non-toxic so you can use it inside.

get a soap box ,
put it in the middle of your house ,
stand upon the soap box ,
with a magazine rolled up like a megaphone ,
speak into the make shift mega phone and say three times loudly...... ALL ANTS , PLEASE LEAVE THE PREMISES AT ONCE.
If that doesn't work , i guess you're stuck with them.

"Ant Stakes" available at grocery and hardware stores.
Sweet poison - the ants stream in to get it one day and are gone the next. Keep it away from pets and kids though.

buy a five pound bag of sugar. and then walk 50 paces away from your house. and throw the sugar on the ground. the ants will leave your house.

Use cornmeal, trust me. When they eat it it makes their stomachs swell up so they literally explode. After 1 day my ants were completely gone.

if you know where they are coming in from the out side you can go out there and lay a thick layer of coffee or salt ants can't stand either one
