The best way is with a polishing mop and wax on a linisher. But seeing that you probably don't have access to that you could try a very fine scotch brite pad with a little WD40 or go to a stainless steel factory and see if they will do it for you. it would only take them a few seconds..

It depends on what finish of stainless steel it is. Chances are it's brushed as it often is on watches - polished stainless steel smudges easily with fingerprints, and can look very tacky. If it's brushed (ie: you can see tiny grooves on the surface of it), it can't be polished. Yes you can clean it, but not polish it.

Call the vendor or manufacturer and ask what they recommend.

Depends how deep the scratch is. There are various methods you can use and various types of finish. If it's very minor scratches, a buffer wheel would probably take it out. If it's deeper you will have to use varying degrees of polishing starting out with something rough and working your way down using different degrees of abrasive until you get to the buffer wheel again.

If the scratch is not deep, i.e., .001 -.003 deep, it should come out with light abrasion. Try a 320 grit paper and sand lightly. Work back up to 600 grit. You can finsh with a metal polish.

Please, before you do anything at all, call the manufacturer of the watch! They will have the correct solution for the problem, and you won't have taken a chance on making a mistake they can't fix later. The vendor where you bought it may be a good source also. But generally the manufacturer is the best.
