Anyone know what to set the points at on an International Cub Cadet riding lawnmower?

It won't keep running and barely starts.

Consult your owner's manual.
A rule of thumb is about the thickness of a thumbnail but lookup the manual.
It might be a good idea to also replace the sparkplug.
It's hard to say without more info.
