ok i got a prescription from my optometrist with the prescription:
sphere cylinder axis
OD: -6.75 -0.25 160
OS: -7.50 -1.00 170

do i really need astigmatism lenses or toric lenses or can i just get regular. i have gone to two different opticians for an estimate on how much the contacts would cost and both told me different things. one said i need lenses for astigmatism and the other said i dont need lenses for astigmatism. i dont know what to do so what do u recommend?

I know this is crazy but I'm 100% asian and was born with blue shappire eyes. It's kinda weird, my whole entire family has brown or black eyes.

Do you think this is ugly?

Every night, my eye pupils get bigger which is normal up to a point but even when exposed in light, they bearly get smaller.I'm worried because my friends say I look like stoned and that they are almost covering the eye, though I have no vision problems.

Here is the question: Patients with (i'll give you values that are the same on both eyes) sph-0.25 cyl-3.00, sph-0 cyl-3.50 and shp-1.75 cyl-0. Do all these people need in fact the same glasses as the equivalent sphere is the same to all of them? If so, what is the difference on the different values? Regards, thanks.

I'm 59 and don't have cataracts. However, I do have a lazy eye that needs more correction than I can get from glasses or Lasik.

I'm looking at lens replacement, similar to cataract procedures.

Two brands are Crystalens and ReStor. Which is better? Which is cheaper?

I also found info on ICL, implantable contact lens. Apparently this is not recommended for anyone over 60 and is only available in Britain.

This has happened for the last two days, and I'm feeling a little dizzy during the day.

After I wake up, 4 to 5 minutes later, my eyes are back to normal. I wear contacts during the day. I'm 15 years old.

I was told I have astigmatism years ago but my new optometrist at America's Best didn't give me toric contacts to correct it.

Will this make my astigmatism get worse or are there other effects like headaches if I wear these regular contacts over a period of time?

btw the America's best doctor never mentioned anything about astigmatism either. Should I be concerned? I'm also getting glasses with his prescription.

Lasik surgery, that scares the heck out of me, having someone with a knife cutting my eye. So I have to say no to that.

My left eye, for driving lenses, has this prescription:
+3.75 sph, -.75 cyl, 084 axis.

The lasik center says both lasek and PRK can only make as much correction as I could expect from glasses. For the level of correction I need for 20/20 they need to replace the natural lens.

1) How do you measure or quantify correction levels?
2) Could the lasik PLUS glasses achieve the same level of correction without replacing the natural lens?

I got into a little accident, and as a result my glasses got quite bent. When I put them on straight, the glasses will be lopsided because one side of the ear piece is very bent. It is very hard to get back into place. It's uncomfortable, I have a test tomorrow, and I can't see an optometrist until Monday afternoon because they're closed on the weekends. Does anyone have any advice on how to make temporary adjustment to these flimsy glasses until that day?

Okay, I just got contact lenses today and I was wondering if you can react to them. If you can what will happen? I would like know if i am reacting yet or what to look for in the next couple of days. My eyes are a little red where the contacts were but not to terribly bad. Is it a small reaction?
Thank you for everyones answers they are all appreciated.

We've tried long and hard for my Dad to get reading glasses but he just won't budge. I KNOW how badly he needs them and I would like to get him a pair as a Christmas gift, without having to ask him to go to an eye doctor. I figured he can't say anything about it or refuse them if someone got him a pair. Are there gift certificates out there for this sort of thing? i checked most eyewear specialists and they don't seem to be offering anything. Any help would be most appreciated.

Doctors recommended that this fleshy mass be removed from the eye. It has caused the eye to bulge and water-at times the eye becomes inflamed. Has anyone suffered from this condition or know of anyone who has? Was surgery performed? If so, was it successful? Did the mass grow back?
