There are worse things than glasses. I've been wearing them 40 years and never bothered with contacts for the following reasons.

1. I put a lot of time into outdoor sports like swimming and cycling that require eye protection anyway.

2. Most prescription lenses give you UV protection. Even the clear ones.

3. Working on cars or in a workshop you need eye protection anyway.

4. Once i got used to it, I feel naked without them.

5. Sticking a foreign object on my eyeball doesn't seem like a good idea.

As for your issues, you may just be sensitive to the materials used, similar to a food allergy.

No, glasses don't cause your vision to deteriorate. My prescription has stayed the same over 40 years (nearsighted), with the exception of going bifocal a couple years ago, and that happens to everyone.

I wore the Ciba soft colors for 25 years in royal blue. They will last 6 mos to a year. Wash you hands through keep you contact case clean, all I use is the Alcon express, soak over night. rinse your case after putting in your contact let it air dry. Clean hands always. It may be your solution. Talk to your eye care people, I would give it up.
I just switched to the Acuview for astigmatism. Hydroclear.

So, wear glasses. Amazingly enough I have gotten through 52 years with no eye problems except the correction.

If glasses are uncomfortable you have a poor fit.
