You should not have it until about 22-23 years of age, probably.
Many countries have a legal limit of 18 or 21, but on top of that it is highly recommended that your Rx has not changed in the two years prior to surgery, otherwise the "reset to zero" would soon have been wasted.

The rate of risk is low: 97% of people who have had it done say they would recommend it to a friend, but there are individuals out there who have had major problems, often uncurable, and rather more who have had some degree of side-effect or problem. (mainly dry eyes and night-time glare)

You do not get laser eye surgery that young.
Once you have not needed a new prescription for a year you can look into laser eye surgery. Personally I would wait until you are 25 because that is when your brain finishes growth.
If you start wearing contacts, and want to look into it don't wear them for 2 weeks if they are soft, 3 weeks if they are toric, 4 weeks if they are hard. After leaving them out go for consultation. Contacts slightly change the shape of your eyes while wearing them.

When I had it done my vision sucked, worse than yours. 25 years old, I went to TLC for initial consultation. They sat us down in a group to tell us how it was done and the risks. After the group we got taken back individually for screening.
Risks vary by case. I was told my vision was bad, "tell me something I don't know", 80% chance everything would go fine. It will depend on how thick your corneas are and how bad of vision you have. Lucky for me we had room to play with since I have thick corneas. There's several more types of surgeries that can be done if this doesn't fix you to 20/20.
With the intralase & lifetime commitment it would be $5,000 total ($2.5k per eye)... what the hell I see bad enough already, I'm sick of contacts and glasses!

It just felt like a finger going across my eye, only have to stare at a little dot. After this watch something that looks like a laser light show and repeat in the other eye. Taken out of the surgery and BAMMM!! What the hell? I can see?? Now I see 20/15!
I think my prescription before was (infinity)/(infinity), horrible astigmatism with it

Do it when your prescription doesn't change and you can put your money where your eyes are.
Hardest part about it is talking yourself into getting it done.

you could go blind from that surgery. im pretty sure thats rare though. i know people who have had it, and they love it. my cousin wont get it because shed rather wear glasses then take the risk, but if your vision is that bad talk to a doctor about it.
