I have one brown eye and one green/brown eye. It's not common. I knew a woman who had one brown eye and one blue eye. I kept looking at her thinking this is strange. Then I thought, you see yourself in the mirror every day and don't think it's odd. Not very many people notice my eyes unless the light is fairly bright.
I've always had 2 different colored eyes; not result of an injury.
I kind of like having them different. Do you?

Its called Heterochromia.

1 in 1,000,000 people have it.

It is also known as a heterochromia iridis or heterochromia iridium is an eye condition in which one iris is a different color from the other (complete heterochromia), or where part of one iris is a different color from the remainder (partial heterochromia or sectoral heterochromia). It is a result of the relative excess or lack of pigment within an iris or part of an iris, which may be genetically inherited or due to mosaicism, or acquired by disease or injury.[1]

Eye color, specifically the color of the irises, is determined primarily by the concentration and distribution of melanin pigment within the iris tissues[2][3][4]. Consequently, anything affecting those factors may result in a difference of color being observed.

The affected eye may be hyperpigmented (hyperchromic) or hypopigmented (hypochromic).[5] An excess of pigmentation is usually associated with hyperplasia of the iris tissues whereas a lack of pigmentation is associated with hypoplasia. Although seen in humans, heterochromia in which one iris differs in color from the other iris is more frequently observed in non-human species such as cats (for example, Japanese Bobtails and Turkish Vans; white, shorthaired cats can be "odd-eyed" with one copper or orange eye and one blue eye, and the Turkish Angora), dogs (for example, Siberian Huskies as well as Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, and other breeds with merle coats), horses (so-called "wall-eyed" horses have one brown and one white or blue eye), and even water buffalo.[6] Partial or sectoral heterochromia is much less common than complete heterochromia and is typically found in autosomally inherited disorders such as Hirschsprung's disease and Waardenburg syndrome. Famous comedian Dan Akroyd has this condition

I have a brown eye and one green eye and my dad has a brown eye and a blue eye. But it is very rare only one in a million people have it. And it is in the genes.

I have one dark brown (looks almost black sometimes) and one green eye. The doctor told my mom years ago that it was really rare and only 1 and 8million get it. Probably a different ratio now.
When I went to get my drivers licenses (CA) they told me I had to pick one or the other so I said green. Was pretty funny

I don't think it's all that rare. I know a few people with different color eyes.

So does my sister. So yeah, it happens, although rare. Doing our family history I found a great great Uncle who came through Ellis Island and his distinguishing mark on the passenger log was his half green eye - so it is in the genes.

i wouldn't say its rare, more unlikely than rare. my cousin has two different eye colours. it depends on the colour more, some colours are much more rarer to be with each over than others.
