I had a lump on my top eyelid ten days ago and went to see a nurse, she said she didnt know if it was a cyst or a stye, but gave me cream for it. The lump is still on my eyelid but its not sore anymore and is only small now. The vision in my eye is getting worse by the day, my other eye is fine. Why is this, I have always had perfect eyesight, it is driving me mad!!
Please help!! (seing a doctor tomorrow.)

My family, all these years, have just assumed I have perfect 20/20 eyesight. I know better, however. I am having trouble reading small print and street signs until I get right up to them. I want to tell them that I need to see an eye doctor again that I am having trouble seeing but I don't know how to go about doing that. It's not that I'm really afraid, it's that I don't want them to know that I am now like all of them. They all wear glasses. I'm just having trouble finding the right way to bring that up. Can any of you out there offer suggestions? I also squint more than I used to. And when I was in college, I always had trouble seeing the board without squinting really hard and, even then, it didn't really help. It just made my eyes sore.

The past 2 days I've been at the pool, and the second day my eyes seemed fine. Then later they started burning like crazy.I would be sensitive to light and I could barely keep my eyes open from the pain.I put eyedrops in but the pain kept coming back.Everytime I put in eyedrops the pain would come quicker than before. Was this just my eyes or the eyedrops? My eyes are pretty ok now, but they are blury.

I already wear glasses and have an almost new perscription for these glasses, but I find that driving at night and especially at night in the rain, its very difficult to see clearly as light appears as this colour bloom, nothing appears really sharp and anything that contains artificial light appears to be wonky in general. I have mentioned this to my eye doctor and he really wasnt any help. I'm at the point now where I feel unconfotable on the road at night especially if the roads are busy. Is there a solution to this?

I am staying over at a friends house for the night. I found out that I left the stuff I usually use for my disposable contacts at home. It's late and I can't call to get any. Is it okay to put them in tap water for the night? We live in a good area, so the tap water is pretty clean.

My perscription says "Sphere -1.00" for both eyes and "Cylinder -0.75" for both. The axis is my left is 098 and the axis in my right is 079. From this information, can you determine an estimate to what my vision is? Such as 20/50?

my biggest problem is that im a bit of a hypochondriac. put that together with a moment of not being attentive and u get a real tragedy. so, what i did is i washed my face with my contacts in. im not quite sure if water actually went in my eyes, my best guess is it didnt. however, 10 minutes later i took them out, cuz i read online that u can get keratitis and go blind if water and contacts interact. rite now my contacts are in a peroxide based solution, so i have no doubt that every living thing that once existed on them will die. my question is...will my eyes b okay after this episode?

i got the response for my earlier question about eyelid muscle disorders, however, as mentioned in the answers, there is no such condition as diabetes, myasthenia gravis or recent episode of stroke etc. this condition is there from birth however, no one else in the family has this condition, not even distant relatives. However, the difference between the two eyes has reduced gradually, but is not completely gone and is still quite conspicuous. no other eye complications are seen. is that still ptosis or something else?

Both my parents and my sister wear glasses. I'm sure I don't have 20/20 vision. Does waiting to get glasses help or hurt your vision in the long run?

I've bought a new box of air optix and noticed that my air optix has lot number which is topic of valuntary recall...

Wikipedia says: "CIBA Vision in the United States of America recalled certain lots of O2 Optix that were sold from September 2006 to December 2006. This is due to these lots falling below CIBA Vision's Ion Permeability standards. Reduced ion permeability in contact lenses may lead to reduced lens movement, symptoms of discomfort and/or foreign body irritation. The following lot numbers are being recalled: 6644001 to 6721262 2011/09 to 2011/11"

mine has no: 6707142, AIR OPTIX... Is this voluntary recall also valid for my lenses, should I return them? or O2Optix and Air Optix has different lot numbers?

sorry for english :))

i know, i know, doctors say its impossible but i dont believe them there have been cases and there are known methods

i try to exercise my eyes by rotating them sometimes and ive heard of palming, where you cup your eyes with your hands for a while to block out all the light and give your eyes a little rest and time to readjust or something but that just gives me acne

i'd like to know if the methods i just mentioned actually work and/or have some benefits and i'd like to hear about things i can do to help my vision.

if youve heard of anything, know anything, or have any inspiring eyesight-cured stories you can share, PLEASE DO

i really CANT stand having to depend on my glasses and contacts. hate them both.

I've always had excellent vision, but I've gotten older, and now I wear progressive lenses. Mostly for reading, but one of my eyes needs minor correction for distances. My prescription seems right for reading, computer work, etc., but I can't see well enough to do any close work--take out a splinter, etc. Should I expect my glasses to be good enough for me to do everything I used to be able to do? Or should I expect to have to use a magnifying glass or something to do close work?

1) what is the distance from the Snellen chart where i sat and took the test?

2) is 20/20 applicable to night vision?

3) what happened if i failed the 1st 3 rows of the chart (screen generated by machine)

4) I can't see the 3 row (smallest characters) with my left eye but I can with my right eye, am I still consider 20/20?

5) What can i do to improve my vision? (frankly does looking over the green grass etc help?)

6) Been able to read the newspapers or books at my 'arm length' is this considered normal? Or half of my arm length instead?

7) reference the snellen chart : what does rows 9,10,11 means?

9) by having 20/20 basically at standing 20 feet from an object, what are words (minimum height) I likely to read clearly?

Why are eye patches almost always black (cup as well as strap)? Obviously, a patch is nothing to be ashamed of. HOWEVER, it's also not necessarily something you want to jump out at people as the first thing they notice about you! I must admit, it's hard not to inadvertantly stare at a big black patch -- it's just stands out so starkly! I've even seen young kids act AFRAID of people with black eye patches, sadly. :(

Why aren't more patch/strap sets produced in beige (for folks of Caucasian or lighter Asian descent) or brownish (for folks of African, Indian or darker Hispanic descent)?? I actually HAVE SEEN patches in beige, and they were so 'discreet' that I almost didn't even notice at first! They looked so good! :) I just don't understand why more folks don't use such patch/strap sets? Do they enjoy being stared at? Do they enjoy scaring little kids? I'd think NOT. Or perhaps the problem is that such patches aren't readily available -- and if that's the case, why not?
