The doctor seems to think that 3 weeks healing time is enough. It took me 12 weeks for my right arm to heal from the same surgery. How can I get the doctor to keep me out of work long enough for my other arm to heal? I think I will need a full 12 weeks just like the other one. I go to see him tomorrow. Any suggestions???

I am depressed and in chronic sever pain. I don't get in to the dr until Wed. - pain management. Right now I feel like the best way to ensure rest is to add in an old painkiller to my current one, take a few unisom, and ambien and a dozen mg of ativan. That's what I've just done and I am not asleep. Please advise. Please

My ear still hurts after a week which i know is normal but now my jaw hurts and aches on the side i had my ear pierced. Hope it's just coincidence but was wondering if this has happened to anyone else? It's not infected and i use ear care lotion on it and stuff. Is it worth going to see a doctor?

My right hand especially tomb, also right arm's lower part feel pain and unpleasant tierdness constantly... We had bowling yesterday, but we have it very often and I never had such pain awter that. I feel like some nerve is hurt and that is the reason. But I didn't hurt my hand yesterday.
Is it because of bowling or is it something more serious?

I dont know why but my right butt muscle hurts so bad I have a hard time walking....I am 38 yo,no health issues(yet). I did pinch a buldging sciatic nerve on that side about 21/2 mos ago but I thought that was over. Could this be related to this? It feels like it is very deep into the muscle.

I'm starting to look into massage therapy for a stiff neck. I pulled a neck muscle about a month ago, and the muscle seems to be healing, but because I didn't start range of motion movements soon enough, my neck became very stiff, and often painful to move.

I was wondering how much one typical session would cost, and how often I should go. I know that it will all depend on the therapist and what he/she suggests, but I'm just looking for ballpark figures here so I know what to expect.

Also, I haven't been to see a doctor about it since the pulled neck muscle originally happened. I decided the copay wasn't worth hearing, "you have a stiff neck, see a chiropractor." Would the therapist first suggest getting an MRI or anything to make sure that nothing is seriouslly wrong with any bones? I don't think that is the case, but I'm new to this whole thing.

Thank you!

It seems that if someone is so far into denial that they'll claim to NOT be addicted to opiates after having taken them for many years, then they should be taken off them for at least a short while, so they'll be forced to go through serious withdrawals and understand that they actually ARE addicted. It's like saying that someone with a never ending supply of heroin who has been taking it everyday for five years isn't an addict because they actually wanted to take it every day.

My mum has suffered with severe back pain now for a few weeks, it seems to be in her back, side, arms, and also her little fingers and arm go numb, we have thought that maybe it was a slipped disk, but the pain is only severe in the night and not during the day, once she has woken and taken some pills the pain seems to cease and comes back when she is in bed, what could it be, she says the pain is so bad she could slit her throat. Please help.

I have headache's 4-5 days every week,we went through mri's,etc,no known cause, but my question is,can I take Ibuprofen if I'm allergic to asprin? I take way to much tylenol (9-15 tabs)everyday that I do have a headache because that's just how much until it lets up alittle and when I have 5 headaches that week, well, kind of scary, and I probably have no liver left.

As more and more people become unwittingly hooked for life on opiates, do you think more and more lawsuits will be filed against these legal drug dealers? Most people don't fully recognize the extent of the problem until for some reason they are no longer prescribed this form of legal heroin....their doctor retires, change in office policy stopping gratuitous prescrbing of drugs,etc... I know a woman in her fifties who until five years ago had never taken anything stronger than an aspirin in her entire life ( not including alcohol) until she was put on vicodin for a disc problem. Within a few months her body adjusted and she needed more...then the vicodin no longer killed the pain so the good old doctor upped it to percocet. This repeated itself until a couple years later she was being prescribed 3 40 mg. oxycontin a day. Long story short, she's almost 60 with a full blown addiction to opiates, with no script, she spends her enitre SS check buying off the street! SUE 'EM, I say!!!

I have had this pain in my jaw and left ear for several months now. The pain in my ear can be so severe that I have to use heat and just lay down to get rid of it.
I have had sinusitus 3 times this year and my GP has switched me from zyrtec to claritan. I had pneumonia last month and the tightness in my chest has not seemed to go away since then.
My GP keeps telling me that he can find nothing wrong with the left ear but I know there is something wrong as the ear seems to feel like it is full and is draining alot of ear wax.
I don't smoke so I know that is not a factor.

If you are an oxycontin patient, unless your doctor is one of those who will prescibe it for anything from a hang nail to a leg cramp, you have hoodwinked your doctor into believing that you absolutely, positively cannot make it through the say without the aid of a heavy narcotic. (a reality number) So the fact that you are on it, long term, means you are addicted to it. You can blab on and on, all you want, about how you are DEPENDENT...not ADDICTED...but once you are dependent, you are addicted, once you are addicted, you are dependent...DUH?!?! So why can't you just admit it, you're an addict...a junky...it's no big deal really, I mean, nobody FORCED it on you , you asked for it! Of course, someday you'll have to get off it, and THEN you'll see how badly addicted you are, until then....you're living in fantasy land if you think you are'nt a junky.....because you ARE....a junky. I always denied it to...denial isn't just for alcoholics ya know... but once you admit it, u can quit
