One of the things that I have found helpful to my fibromyalgia is a muscle relaxer called Skelaxin. The thing that I like about it is that it works well without making me sleepy. Also, the injections that I get from my rheumatologist (also the one I get my Skelaxin from) for my osteoarthritis has been of some help to my fibro too.

I also find that sometimes putting the heating pad around my shoulders helps and sometimes hot showers do too.

One time I was doing some massage therapy thru my Pain Management dr which was doing really good, but then when that girl left and a new girl came in, first session was ok but then after that it stopped working. So I haven't done the massage therapy anymore.

A couple of books about fibro that I recommend to people are:

Fibromyalgia for Dummies and
Fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain Syndrome: A Survival Manual by: Devin Starlanyl (she has fibro) and Maryellen Copeland (she has CMP-that's the new way to call myofascial pain now)

I have fibromyalgia and my Dr. had me to a pain management program, that was the best thing that I ever did. And that is what I'm recommending to you. If your health insurance cover's a pain management program Suggest to your Dr. about going to a pain management program for fibromyalgia. You will be glad that you did!

Weekly or monthly massages also help for Fibromyalgia.

My wife is in physical and occupational therapy for Fibromyalgia. The therapists have her do basic exercises that help reduce the daily pain.

They say that there is no cure and that you have to maintain the exercise routine or whatever relief you get now will not last.

Take care,
Troy

After talking with your Doctor and getting information, look into a very light massage like swedish massage. I did one on a woman with this and I had to use a very light touch and she said it helped her.
