Sometimes rest is the only thing that will give you any relief. I have suffered with sciatica for 14 years and when it gets really bad resting is all that helps. When it doesn't hurt too badly I try to walk as much as possible. Believe it or not, exercise is very good for it. Try not to do anything too strenuous though. If you decide to walk, try to stick to flat surfaces, don't go up or down too many hills and avoid stairs. For me an exercise bike irritated things terribly, and swimming was the best. Besides that, hot baths helped me a lot and so did sleeping with a body pillow between my knees. Hopefully these things will help you... If they don't there are more extreme measures you can take. I took medication for nerve pain for many years, coupled with narcotic pain meds. I also had steroid injections, lots of physical therapy, I used a TENS Unit and finally I had a Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted. The implant helped better than anything else ever did, but unfortunately my body rejected it and it had to be removed.

I wish you the best and hope I have been able to help you. I know all too well how painful sciatica can be.

I lay on my back and extend each legup and bend knee to my body (kinda rolling on your back and butt) keep doing it on both sides. Stretch back and legs well.
