I mean we are biologically the same but our "tolerance" is different. I found out when I was 11 and tore some ligaments and was given tylenol 3 that it took more for me and I was wayyy too young to have built a "tolerance". It just takes more so you run out sooner. That doesn't always mean you're an addict- it makes you one! Who's "fault" is that, mine? Jeez, if you specify, your doc thinks you're "experienced' and it throws up red flags and tries to give you vicodin for punishment.

Besides drinking gallons of water which I already do. Every morning I wake up with a headache, stuffy nose, scratchy throat. I have darker circles under my eyes, and my back often hurts. Once I am able to turn the heat back ( I live with someone who is always cold) I feel fine. Any suggestions?

Hey now about 3 months ago i was taken away by ambulance because i had severe pains there and when i phoned up NHS 24 they thought it could be a possible heart attack and sent out an ambulance.

However when i was in hospital thankfully nothing was wrong they gave me a strong painkiller and the pain went away. Since then i have beeng etting small pains in my right chest that i have just ignored. However i have discovered that whilst sitting for long periods of time it gets worse, and today its more painful than usual. So i have booked a doctors appointment. Do i have anything to worry about?

I just need to relax maybe. I am pretty stressed out and when I lay down to go to sleep, my neck hurts on both sides near the base. I tried Icy Hot, but the pain keeps coming back. Any Ideas on how to relax or to stop the pain quick? I must get to sleep. Thanks!

Just curious. is there a limit of pain one can feel? for example, having both you're arms and legs cut off must hurt pretty bad. Can it get any worse?

When I wake up, and through some parts of the day my hands, fingers, ankles, neck, face, jaws, and mouth become stiff, and swollen. It seams this happens after I rest or slow down from some sort of activity. I was on a medication for schizophrenia which caused stiffness but have been off of it for 6 months now. I've been to several doctors, and have had bloodwork and test done and they cannot find anything. I know something is definately up because this condition is getting worse.

I crack my neck all day long. It feels good while I'm doing it, but if and when I overdo it (which is often) by the end of the day, my neck is killing me and I have a headache. I'd love to stop but when you get that feeling (all you crackers know that feeling) it's hard not to do it. Please help!

through every therapy available, including epidural shots. pain meds do not even help that much. we are now thinking about surgery . i'm very confused, as we have been to many neurologists and have been getting conflicting answers as to whether or not surgery should be peformed. other than this condition, she is in good health and was very active before this happened. she has had this disease for 18 months now, and it breaks my heart to see her not able to do any of the things she used to do. she is in so much pain and is also getting very depressed . i would love to hear your input on this.

I just recieved my MRI report and it says, L4-5, Large right paracentral disk protrusion present INDENTING the thecal sac. This DOES compromise the anterior posterior dimension of the thecal sac.

L5-S1, Moderate to Large left paracentral disk protrusion. This DOES efface the left S1 nerve root.

What is the thecal sac and is it bad that it's being indented and compromised? Also, what does it mean to "efface" the left S1 nerve root?

Thanks!

I somehow manage to pop the knuckle of my middle finger out and I think it popped itself back in. Now its crooked and the bottom of the finger(where the knuckle it) is blue-ish. I cant form a straight finger at all with it. I can bend it, but it gives me a shocking pain. So, what can I do to it without going to the docter's?

My brother has been given pretty much everything for the pain in his legs, Neurontin 600mg, hydrocodone 10/325, ect and absolutely no pain relief, not even the slightest. We did find out he has lymphedema, 2nd degree, also cellulitis, and he is being treated with the manual lymph drainage and wrappings, which seems to be helping with the leg swelling, but thus far, after 3 treatments still has not done anything for the pain. Is it possible that the pain medications get to a certain point and are destroyed before reaching that part of the body where it sends signals to the brain that its not feeling pain....the signals to the brain that its feeling an 8 or more on the pain scale is not blocked at all, pain is a constant 24/7., pain pills do not block the signals. Does anyone know what could cause this? and would pain patches put right on the legs or pain shots work? Thank You, Marti
