Yes, in that they are both narcotic pain relievers. Tylenol # 3 has codeine and lortab has hydrocodone. Lortab is a bit stronger than T#3.

Tylenol 3 is considerably weaker than Lortab. Codeine is about 1/6th the strength of Hydrocodone. The two drugs are similar, but not the same thing. Codeine and Hydrocodone carry the same risks, but most people get better relief with hydrocodone as opposed to codeine. BTW, watch out for liver damage. Maximum daily dose is 4 grams of tylenol. Obviously, this means 8 Max Strength tylenols (500)mgs per day.
Tylenol 3 does NOT have .5mg of codeine in it. Tylenol 3 contains 30mgs of codeine.

Tylenol 3 w/codeine I feel is similar to Lortab. They usually prescribe Tylenol 3 to you if you have minor pain.Lortab is much stronger. I have been prescribed Lortab in 5 mg, 7.5 mg,and 10 mg, and is usually prescribed to you for moderate to severe pain. Becareful, although it might cure your pain .It's highly addictive, especially to those whom have had a history of drug abuse or addiction.

Codeine is a true opiate. Lortab contains hydrocodone, which is a synthetic opiate. Yes, it does work on the same part of the brain to block the pain message. It is a system-depressant, meaning it will slow down every function in your body...including breathing, urine, bowels, kidneys, liver. All those functions.

Not exactly. Tylenol #3 has 0.5mg of codeine in it and 350mg acetaminophen. Lortab has 500mg of acetaminophen and either 5, or 7.5, or 10mg of hydrocodone in it. Both are narcotic. Both are used for pain. Both are used for coughing.

I don't know, but ever since I stepped on a cactus, I have never thrown out Tylenol 3.
